Many people come to knitting because they feel restless, distracted, or overwhelmed – even if they wouldn’t describe themselves as having “attention difficulties”. In a world designed to fragment focus, knitting can offer a way to anchor attention without force, pressure, or productivity demands.

At Creative Restoration, we’re interested in how knitting can support attention in the midst of our everyday lives. As psychologists we often see the links between attention and wellbeing. For example struggling with regulating your attention can mean overthinking, feeling overwhelmed and emotional or cognitive exhaustion. This collection brings together reflections, research-informed posts, and creative practice exploring the relationship between knitting and attention.

(If you prefer listening, we’ve also curated podcast episodes exploring knitting and ADHD.)

This collection may be especially helpful if you:

  • find it hard to concentrate or stay with one thing
  • notice your mind racing or looping
  • feel pulled towards scrolling but want something more nourishing
  • are curious about how knitting supports attention, focus, or flow
